Children’s Markets
Every April 30th in the Netherlands, parties are held to honor the Queen’s birthday. One special feature of this day is that street trade is totally unregulated. In addition to adult street entertainers and hawkers, children are encouraged to sell things, whatever and wherever they wish, such as crafts they’ve made, and used toys or clothing. Many kids cluster together in “children’s markets” to perform and sell. [Thanks to the book Great Neighborhoods for this information.]
